Interviewer:

By the way, Lisa. Congratulations on being the most followed K-pop artist on Instagram.

 

Lisa:

Thank you.

 

Interviewer:

I mean, pretty wild, yeah?

 

Lisa:

Oh, I couldn’t believe it. I was like.. ‘What? No way!’ ‘No way!’

 

Interviewer:

It’s that beautiful hair. What color is your hair?

 

Lisa:

It’s.. ash brown, I think? It’s kind of gray..?

 

Jennie:

It’s not brown. It’s gray.

 

Lisa:

Really? It’s gray?

 

Jennie:

Khaki gray..

 

Rose:

It used to kind of be more of like a blue tone.

 

Lisa:

Yeah, it just turned out.. It changes every day.

 

Interviewer:

Either way, it’s beautiful.

 

Lisa:

Oh, thank you.

 

Interviewer:

You made some history yourself. You were YG.. correct me if I’m wrong. You were YG’s first non-Korean artist, right?

 

Lisa:

Yes.

 

Interviewer:

How did they get to you? How did you hear about all of this?

 

Lisa:

Oh, well.. I always.. When I.. In Thailand, I always listened to K-pop songs. I loved K-pop singer(s). And I told mom that ‘Oh, I wanna be one of.. part of them.’ ‘I wanna be a K-pop artist!’ You know. Thankfully, YG, they have audition(s) in Thailand.

 

Rose:

Same as me.

 

Lisa:

Same as you. And then I just got in, and then.. Yeah.

 

Rose:

She couldn’t speak the language at all.

 

Lisa:

At all. Just only Annyeonghaseayo.

 

Interviewer:

And that’s it?

 

Lisa:

Yeah, that’s it.

 

Interviewer:

That’s crazy to me. Even that, that’s like the first hurdle out of many hurdles you’re about to go over, which is.. one of the biggest is.. you don’t know the language. You have to.. And you leave your family.

 

Lisa:

Mmhm.

Lisa:

This is my first time here in LA. And I felt like.. Oh, I wanna live here. I don’t know why. I just love the streets. Love food. Everything. The weather’s nice too. I wish I could sing better. Joji’s album. The Ballads 1, I think. Oh, Dua Lipa. I love you.

Lisa:

I mean like, when we go shopping together, she’s always asking me like, ‘Should I get this or get this?’ So I was like, ‘Get both.’ 

 

Jennie:

So we always say we can’t go shopping together. We’re no good for each other. We can’t stop each other.

 

Rose:

Why did you choose me?

 

Lisa:

I don’t know. I just imagined that you might be like.. doing some embarrassing things in front of your crush.

 

Rose:

Oh, god. That’s the kind of impression I have.

I can speak Thai, because I’m Thai. And Korean. A little bit (of) English.

 

Jennie:

Not little bit. She’s good at English.

 

Lisa:

And a little bit (of) Japanese.

Lisa:

Hi, I’m Lisa from BLACKPINK. And this is my first time in Milan. And this is my first time for the Prada show. And I’m looking forward for (to) F/W ’20 collection. So this is my outfit. It’s a gold vibe, and.. The reason that I chose this is because I just dyed my hair black. So I wanna.. make it different. And this is my mini bag, with the key rings. And inside my bag.. I have my favorite camera and snacks. So I’m on my way to the Prada show. See you guys there.

Lisa:

Dear girls, how are you? I’m Lisa. I have read all your letters. And someone wrote she has been away from home for ten years. She always competed but never got the result she wanted. This other contestant said that if she doesn’t pass, she would have to (go) back home. I debuted after five years of training. I know being a trainee is hard. Five years was so long, but I didn’t give up. And I believe you can do the same. As you try to achieve your dream, you’ll encounter many barriers. However, no matter what you face, I hope you continuously move forward. And I’ll be here to support you.
