Yoon:

That’s so serious. I’m not that serious. I’m in this business, such a, such a long time in Korea. But we.. I didn’t wanna do it. Because I knew this was going to be an independent movie. That means, I’m going to suffer with all the things.

[Part 1]

Yoon:

Wow, what a pleasant surprise. I was nominated by Best Actress. But I wasn’t called. So, okay.. I’d better be ready to go home. So I didn’t expect this big prize. Okay, let me put myself together.

 

My English is not perfect. So, I will do my best. First of all, thank you very much for the juries who voted for me. And secondly, my director Lee Jae Yong. Without him, I couldn’t be here tonight. And, of course, no prize. So, thank you very much. 

 

I highly appreciate it. Work with you. My career is very long long time. Half of a century now. But still, without director, there is no actor. That’s my thought. So, thank you very much, all the directors and all the filmmakers. And I greatly appreciate it, this award. Thank you so much.

 

Oh, by the way, I didn’t bribe him. I didn’t bribe any juries.

Interpreter:

In Korea, we have a saying that if you sit down to eat together, you’re just like a family. So, just sitting down together, doing filming, and eating together, and spending time that way, just made it feel like a family for me.

 

Yoon:

That’s so serious. I’m not that serious. I’m in this business, such a, such a long time in Korea. But we.. I didn’t wanna do it. Because I knew this was going to be an independent movie. That means, I’m going to suffer with all the things. But it came out well. We lived together almost, trying to save the money. So we ate together, so we became a family. I correct his Korean, and he corrects my English. I could speak better than Sunja now, but I didn’t have to speak English at all. That was very memorable to me as an old actress. I don’t wanna do the real hard work anymore. I’m getting old. But.. Isaac gave me the  opportunity, so I’m grateful. And I’m very glad to see you guys enjoy our movie together. Thank you so much.

Yoon:

My name is Yoon Yeo Jung, and I play the role for the Bacchus Lady.

 

Interviewer:

I have a question for you as well. How did you prepare this role? Also the acting, and this, sort of the embodiment of this special personality of this woman. Did you research? Did you meet some of these women maybe that work in this culture? What was your approach to it?

 

Yoon:

We’ve heard about this kind of situation on the news lots of times. But I didn’t research.. I didn’t go there and research it. But I just followed his directions.

 

Interviewer:

What kind of instructions did he give you?

 

Yoon:

Very detailed.

 

Interviewer:

Was it difficult for you to feel and empathize? How long did it take?

 

Yoon:

It was. That, um..  The atmosphere we’re taking the shooting.. That area is not a really good area. Not a decent place. So, as just an old woman, it was very very hard to feel and.. The atmosphere, and trying to be in her situation, it was.. adopting her feelings, it was very very hard for me.
